Ford's New Crossover Hybrid

Ford was clearly one of the stars at this year's Detroit Auto Show, shining bright with green vehicles and a wide variety of fuel-saving technologies. Somewhat surprisingly, the company revealed just one concept. However, this one concept - the Vertrek hybrid crossover - promises to play a very important role in Ford's lineup.

After production, the Vertrek (final market name to be determined) is to replace both the Ford Escape crossover in the U.S. and the Kuga crossover in Europe. And, following the Fiesta and Focus, it will be Ford's third truly global design.

Ford Explorer Wins North American Truck of the Year Award

To be eligible to win the North American Truck of the Year Award, a vehicle must be "all-new" or "substantially changed". At this year's Detroit Auto Show, Ford's beloved Explorer earned the title, beating out both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Dodge Durango. The Award is prestigious because it's presented by a jury of 49 veteran automotive journalists from Canada and the United States.

Ford F-Series Tops 2010 Sales

The Ford F-Series is one of the most popular US truck series and it looks to be for quite some time. Sales of Ford F-Series pickups, including the all new F-150, have rebounded over the last year (2010) by at least 21 percent.

In fact, Ford sold more than 500,000 F-150 light-duty trucks, F-250, F-350 and F-450 heavy-duty trucks in 2010, according to Ford spokeswoman Anne Marie Gattari. Giving an estimate, that is about 9,800 trucks per week on an annual basis.
