Oh, we certainly do love the Ford F-150 here at Theodore Robins Ford. And who wouldn't? With an available 5.0-liter V8 or 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, as well as class-leading fuel-economy and a slew of advanced safety and entertainment features. But we're not the only ones who think so highly of the pickup, in fact, Motor Trend chose the 2012 Ford F-150 as their Truck of the Year - and this isn't the first time, either.
For a week, staffers at Motor Trend performed a variety of tests on all of the trucks listed above. Tests include day-to-day driving scenarios, twisty mountain conditions, and straightaways, and each vehicle is tested both with and without payload. Obviously the F-150 performed well, but we like the way Editor-in-Chief Ed Loh described its performance, "It mastered every task we subject it to, acing our instrumented tests at the proving grounds and swaying opinions during our real-world road evaluations."1
At a ceremony at company headquarters in Dearborn, MI, Ford Americas President Mark Fields, accepted the award from the magazine, saying, "We are proud to receive this award and even more pleased that our F-150 customers have additional validation of their choice."2 And, there are certainly a lot of F-150 owners out there who will be pleased to hear the news, as well, as the Ford F-150 and yet again the best-selling pickup in the United States.
This is the fourth time the F-150 has earned this award, having taken home the honor in 1997, 20004 and 2009. Theodore Robins Ford looks forward to many more years of this award-winning pickup.
